Ashokarishtam

Ashokarishtam is a herbal tonic prescribed for traeting all kinds of disorders related to menstruation, ovulation and fertility in Bhaishajya Ratnavali, an ancient Ayurvedic text. Many companies such as Kerala Ayurvedics market the tonic.

Treatment Protocol
Ashokarishtam is very effective in treating menorrhagia, metrorrhagia and amenorrhea. It nourishes the endometrium and is a good tonic for endometriosis. It also improves general debility and metabolism. 1-2 tbsp of the tonic should be taken with warm water twice a day. It contains herbs in proportions safe for long term use (over 1 year).

Usually long-term treatment with Ashokarishtam is sufficient to treat women who present with abnormal bleeding patterns, possibly accompanied with anemia. If abnormal menstrual patterns persist after 3-4 months of treatment with Ashokarishtam or there are stubborn symptoms of PCOS, insulin sensitizers such as Hyponidd or Diabecon and home-remedies such as Amla, Tulsi, Fenugreek, Bermuda Grass should be included in the treatment. Detoxification should be practiced regularly to improve response to herbs and particularly if constipation is present.
